Re: Sullivan Family [Gernonstown
Hi Joe,
Mary McGee was my granddad's (Patrick Sullivan) aunt. I believe that he/his siblings possibly went to live with her and Joe when his mother died. Any information you have about the Sullivan's would be gratefully received.
Thanks,
Kate

Hi Kate,
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you.
Ive been having trouble with my laptop, also had to join again.
Ive not been searching for a long time , and when your post came I was surprised.
Kate was your grand dads name Patrick Matthew and do you know his wifes name before they married.
sorry for asking, but I have given info out before and got nothing back.
I'm just being cautious.
Hope you understand,
Regards Joe McGee

Re: Sullivan Family [Gernonstown
Hi Joe,
I am really pleased that you replied. My Grandma was Hannah Newton and my Granddad was Patrick Matthew. We don't really know anything about his family. There are some stories about his father but I couldn't find any trace of him after he married Kathleen Byrne and she died not long after having Willy and Winny. If your mum told you any stories about the family I would love to hear them.
Thanks,
Kate

Re: Sullivan Family [Gernonstown
Hi Kate,
Thanks for letting me know you grand mothers name, it was what I needed to know.
I was only young when I met your grand parents. Some where I have fotos of them.
My sister knows more about Willie and his family, I will contact her and ask if she will write down what she can remember.
Willie lived near me in Liverpool and I saw him from time to time, but didn't know who he was.
Would you mind letting me have some info about your parents and brothers and sisters and , ie births/ marriage/s deaths.
I have a foto of Hanna and two kids in my records. whatever records I find I will send them to you.
be in touch soon,
Joe

Re: Sullivan Family [Gernonstown
Hi Joe,
Even though I have been researching my family history I am embarrassed to say that I am going to have to ask my Mum and Dad for dates because I don't know them for my Aunties and Uncles - I will make sure I add them to my tree when I find out!
My Dad is one of five brothers of Patrick and Hannah.
Pat, Tony, Brian, Michael (my Dad) and Barry.
I will get the relevant dates and send them to you.
I have looked fruitlessly for any evidence of Patrick Sullivan my great grandad and he doesn't seem to have died in Liverpool so I am wondering where he went and when. If your sister knows any stories which might give me a lead that would be great.
I think that his parents were Patrick Sullivan and Ellen Costello - is that right? I have got them on a 1901 census and then Patrick and his daughter Catherine still in the same house 10 years later, Ellen has presumably died and Patrick has gone over to Liverpool by then.
Thanks,
Kate

Hi Kate,
Just a thought about finding Patrick, Have you tried emigration, maybe he went to USA or Canada.
You can try the national archives. Where you get passenger lists.
If you use Ancestry you can get a lot of info from there records.
Its worth a try.
Joe

Re: Sullivan Family [Gernonstown
Hi Kate,
I have been trying to send you some photographs and a couple of certificates.
I have not been searching my tree for about 8 years, with windows 10 I'm lost.
Having tried to send you fotos a few times with out any luck, I believe e/mail is the only way forward.
Would it be possible for you to let me have your e/mail so I can send you some fotos.
Should you decide not to, you will not hear from me again.
regards
Joe

Re: Sullivan Family [Gernonstown
Hi Joe,
I have paid the subscription so that I can send my email address over private messenger but it still won't let me reply.
I still haven't got all the dates of birth for you because my Dad doesn't know his brother's birthdays. I shouldn't be surprised because he doesn't know mine or my sister either. I have got some photos of my grandparents which I thought you might be interested in so once the private messaging is working I will email those over.
Thanks,
Kate
