Searching for any information on my gg grandfather, Richard Belford, b.1787, and married to Mary O'Rourke B.1790. I have been unable to locate any records of his parentage, birth, marriage, death, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I believe there are still relatives in Drumshambo. I have extensive descendants lists of my Richard if anyone is interested.
Dear Linda: I believe that my great grandfather, James Belford (born 1846)may have lived in the county of Leitrim before emigrating to Canada in the 1870's.
I'm not sure if the name "Belford" is very common in that region, but thought that possibly his name might have shown up on your list of relatives??

James Belford emmigrated to New York married Mary Ann Thornhill 1879 then moved to 100 acre parcel of land in Essonville Ontario. They left with their family late 1890's for Lenox Massachusetts, where they worked at an estate of a lawyer from New York. James and Mary Ann are buried there. James listed his father as English and mother as Irish on his American citizen papers of 1904. I am interested in the descendent lists of Richard, James apparently had a brother that went to Illinois but I hadn't any name of this brother or relative.
