hi i am researching my lavelle family they were from co mayo they emmigrated to england before 1855. austin lavelle/lovell. married a anna. his dad was micheal they were farmers in shandrum. there was a story that a french aristocrate escaped from france to ireland in the french revoluion and married a pheasant who had micheal. austin ended up in kidderminster in england so did his brother patrick. anyone who has a ny information would be appreciated. jayne
Hi Jayne, just seen your message & was wondering if any of your Lavelles went to India or joined the army? I'm researching Michael Fitzgerald Lavelle(bn abt 1830) who was from Castlebar Mayo and ended up in the Army in India and then bought a gold mine. But - there is also a story in our family that Michaels Mother may have been foreign, possibly Spanish/French?
It's probably not the same story but you never know.
