Re: meaney
Hi,
I see this is 5 yrs old but was wondering if you made any discoveries. I was often told stories of Tilly and Terry by my dad and aunts. I wondered if you had found anything out?

Re: meaney
Hi. I have found out where my grandmother lived with Tilly and Martin. Apparently her family were all jockeys.
I’m no further with any information about anything to do with my great grandmother. It’s like she vanished of the face of the earth.
Are you related to the meaneys?

Re: meaney
Really.yes...so my grandad ( my dad's dad) was john meaney, Tilly's sister. I never met him or tilly. That side of the family seems a mystery. What was tilly's real name? X***If you wish to email Tarameaney, Subscribe and use the Private Message (PM) links

Re: meaney
Her name was Catherine Martin nee meaney So your grandad would be my great grandmothers brother? She had a twin brother called John but we were told he had died at birth 15/06/1899.
That would make your dad and my nan cousins?? My nan left Ireland for England in the 1940s.
We have met a cousin called terry in newbridge
Does any of this make any sense to you or your dad

Re: meaney
Yes so Terry is my dad's brother. So ypu would be my dad's cousin too? He lives in kilcullen just down the road from Newbridge. It's so interesting as my dad was a saddler by trade. I'm sure they said my grandad was called john but went as "jack" it's very confusing isn't it. But tilly was definitely my grandads' sister. ***If you wish to email Tarameaney, Subscribe and use the Private Message (PM) links

Re: meaney
Then he would of been my great grandmothers brother as well. She had my nan out of wedlock in 1922 and my nan was brought up by her aunt Tilly and her husband terry.
My aunt writes to a cousin in America who is your uncle terrys sister so is she your aunt? I can’t remember her name but they exchange Xmas cards.
It would be great to hear any family history that you know of :))

Re: meaney
Hi guys I got locked out and couldn't get back in. I feel I'm no help to you but yes my aunt Teresa in in America. She is my dad and Kerry's sister. My dad has 8 brothers and sisters ( plus 2 that sadly died in infancy). So they are all john (jacks) children. Tilly's nieces and nephews. So ypur grandmother was tilly and John's sister. Can i ask what you discovered about their parents then. I apologise if ***If you wish to email Tarameaney, Subscribe and use the Private Message (PM) links
