I am trying to trace my gr gr grandmother's family.
They emigrated from Ireland to Ayrshire in the late 1830s.Unfortunately I do not know which county they came from.
I believe they were protestant. My gr gr grandmother certainly married in the Church of Scotland.
The family consisted of
Robert and Jane Hood, (probable MS Miller, or Millar).
Children:-
James Hood born 1821/22. (from Sottish death certifciate
Samuel Hood born 1825/26. Age from Scottish death certificate.
Robert Hood.1829/30
Elizabeth Hood, born around 1832, my gr gr grandmother, became Elizabeth Deans.
Mary Hood, born around 1835.
My gr gr Grandmother Elizabeth Deans (Hood), had her last child in 1872, and then vanished, so to say. There is no record of her death in Scotland.
I suspect she may have gone back to Ireland, and died there.
If anyone can help me in finding out anything about this family, it would be much appreciated.

Many Scottish people were forced from Scotland to settle certain counties in Ireland. Perhaps they were returning to Scotland?
There are quite a few Hood wills from County Connor starting from 1661 onward and this area is close to Scotland. There are no Robert's (more a Scottish name) but some Samuel's (in Derry 1838 and Connor 1717).
