In search of the Irish ancestors of my grandfather. His father was James Bergin who had a sister Lizzie. Lizzie crossed to New York (first I believe) Sept 22, 1867 on the "City of New York" and worked as a domestic. James crossed sometime later but before 1870 when he and Lizzie had an apartment in the 5th District of the 17th Ward of NYC. James is listed as a carpenter in the 1870 Census containing this information.
