I am looking for information on Kelehers who moved to Nova Scotia. My Great Great Grandfather was named John and would have been born around 1840. He the oldest ancestor I know of on this side of my family. I do not know if he was born here or if he emigrated. His younger children changed the spelling of the name to Keeler for reason unknown to me.
He owned a butcher shop in Halifax, NS. Maybe he worked as one in County Cork.
I am planning a trip in October to Ireland to do more research and would like to visit, if possible towns my family lived in way back.

I found out today that John Keleher (or Kelliher, it appeared both ways)was the son of Patrick Kelliher and Mary Leahy. And born around 1840.
I could not find a baptism record for John so he may have been born in Ireland and emigrated with his parents or alone as a young man.
