Trying to trace my G Grandfather's birth place in Ireland...Charles McVey is down as born there in the 1861 Scotland Census Old Monklands his age 17years, so he would have been born about1843/45. His Father was Francis McVey born Co Tyrone, Francis married Margaret Clark in Airdrie New Monklands June 1842 in the Free of Church of Scotland. Charles Married Margaret McKeown at Airdrie Lanarkshire in 1865 and in the Marriage Certificate it states according to the forms of the Free Church Of Ireland...So he must have been baptized in Ireland/ Tyrone possibly?. As my Family were Jacobites who according to my late Father fought at Culodden for the Stuart cause i can only assume they were Catholic at the time?... Any help would be gratefully appreciated...
