I think my great/g grandfather was Martin Redington of Knockmore Co Mayo. If so, his daughter Ann (b1841)married my great grandfather William Hart in Liverpool in 1860, so her family must have come to England between 1840's to late 1850's? Griffiths Valuation gives 1 Redington in Co Mayo, 6 in Galway and 1 in Roscommon. I look forward to a link!
My wifes GG grandfather was James Redington from New Cloghans, parish of Backs and Knockmore, Co. Mayo. Born 1835. I have not yet succeeded in tracing any siblings. He may be related to your 'Martin'. In records of this period, Redington is sometimes spelt with two 'd's for the same person. There were 64 Redington/Reddingtons in Mayo on Griffith's Val. Knockmore is listed under the Parish of Ballynahaglish and it shows a Martin Redington on a 16 acres site. The landlord is Hon. Edward Perry. Under www.mayoancestors.com there is a Martin Redington born 1830, South Mayo and another in 1843, also in Sth. Mayo, but none in between or before then listed.
