Hello,
I'm new to the Leitrim forum and am hopeful that I'll find someone with similar family connections willing to exchange info. I'm a descendent of Mathew Walpole, b. 1755 in County Leitrim. He came to New York in 1816, shortly after followed by two sons, Martin, b. 1776, and Mathew, b. 1781, both born in Co. Cavan. I'm looking for any info on the family, particularly the spouse of the older Mathew and possibly parents names. The son Martin was married to Margaret Strong. She also came to America around 1817. This entire family settled in Morgan County, Ohio. I believe Martin also had siblings that remained in Ireland, possibly Margaret(m. charles McGovern), Jane (m. Patrick Murphy), Catherine (Smtih), and Bridgit (m. Tobias Beckwith). Can anyone connect to this family? Thanks!
