Laughlin/Loughnane, possibly from the Scartaglin area
I am searching for the parents of three brothers (Daniel, Edward and Nicholas) from a Laughlin family from County Kerry who emigrated separately to Negaunee, MI, in the 1850s and 1860s. The youngest had a short bio of himself printed when he became a successful businessman/politician which indicated that he had taught in the National Schools and was from Kerry.
My great aunts who informed me of him (I have lots of information from Negaunee) were adament that the name was spelled differently in Ireland. I am guessing that it might have been Loughnane which is more common in Kerry.
I have found a family in Coolnageragh, Scartaglin, just south of Castleisland that I believe might be the one that I am looking for.
Looking for confirmation of that information, or other leads.
