I am trying to find out about my paternal (Irish) ancestry.
My grandfather was John (Bernard) Lowry, and died in London in 1937. He qualified as a barrister at Kings Inn, Dublin, and certainly lived in Dublin in the 1890s. I believe his wife's name was Margaret Butler, and that she might have been adopted. What little information I have suggests that he was the second son of Michael Lowry, of Killasmeestia, Co Laois (or Queens as it was known in those days). John waas probably born about 1845, and had at least one brother who became a priest.
There were also family connections to the Byrnes and Murphys, but I do not know the deatils.
Any information would be very helpful.
