Iam trying without success to find out exactly where my grandmother was born etc her name was Helen Brown born on 24th July 1895 parents John Brown and Catherine Bennett on her marriage certificate to Charles Murchie she stated that she was born in Meogh Ireland
Gary, it is bruce, son of Harry now living in the UK for past 14 years. I am looking for the same information and wondered if you had gained anything further? Reading the Marriage certificate I think the town reads Weogh rather than Meogh if youy compare the M in MUrchie and the W in Wharf in Charles Occupation. Have you made contact with Valerie?

Good to hear from you after all these years. I dont know if you heard Mum passed away on the 9th May this year.
I hear from Janice that your Mum isnt to well, how is Stephen and Bruce going.
In regards to Nan Murchie, she is a real mystery, I have a guy in County Mayo, Ireland searching for her Birth/Baptism Certificate, at this stage he can find nothing. I do have a copy of Nans mother (Catherine Brown) death Certificate.
It seems strange that there is no record of Nan being born over here nor in Ireland.
I did ask Aunt Val a couple of years ago about Nans Birth place but she was unsure, Charlie told me she was born in Australia, but the marriage certificate goes against this idea.
Well I will continue to search, if you find out anything can you let me know.
