I am researching John McCahon. John McCahon was born c1844 near Kilrea about 40 miles north of Belfast and 40 miles east of Londonderry in Northern Ireland and Ann White about 1843 in Dublin. They were married in Sydney in 1864 and the certificate indicated that John McCahon arrived in Australia c1858 and Ann c1860. John gave his native place was given as county Derry. John’s death certificate indicated his father’s name was William and he was a dealer. The Griffiths Valuation Irish records include William, James and John McCahan (note 'a' not 'o') at Arthur St. in the Desertoghil Parish, townland Dallagy, in the Baronacy of Coleraine County Derry about twenty miles north of the city of Belfast.
