My Great Grandmother was Margaret McShane or Sheehan or Shane from somewhere around Skibbereen. She was born c1850 and eventually married Michael Carton and they settled in the Townland of Muldonagh Co Derry where my grandmother Rose was born. I am not sure how Margaret and Michael came to meet up being at either end of the country. I have been to Skibbereen twice but the number of graves with Sheehan etc on them quite overwhelmed me. Anyone any idea what I can do to pinpoint exactly where Margaret was born and into whose family? Thank you Myra Brolly.19/09/2009 8:33 am

James Carroll
Hi Eugene,
I am related to the Carroll family of Cobh (Queenstown). Ellen Coleman was the sister of my great great grandfather Michael Coleman. They were two of the children of Timothy Coleman and Mary Driscoll. That makes us 3rd cousins once removed! there is a lot of information available about the Coleman side of your family.

RE: Below
The information by Myra sounds familiar. My family contained a Margaret Sheehan who was married and moved up to County Derry. She also married a Michael however his name was Michael McCartney. This was thought to be in Skibberren.
