Looking for my great-great-great grandfather, Bartholomew Downey. He married Johanna Hill and had a son, John James Downey Born 1 Jan 1843/44. There was a book about County Cork that was passed down in the family...this is our only clue as to where he came from. I have been searching for almost 10 years now with no luck..can anyone help?

I should have added that in church records the name "Downey" occasionally became "Downing" depending on the priest ( and his handwriting!) at the time.
