Hello from New Zealand.
I am endeavouring to find a birthplace and the parents of our grandfather.
According to his death certificate Thomas Henry Willis was born in County Cavan <1856>.
He migrated to Lancashire UK and his age given in the 1881 census would have him born in 1857; 1901 census would have him born 1861 and the 1911 census would have him born 1855.
The only information we have on his family is that his father was JOHN and he was a farmer in Cavan. We know of no other children.
We do not believe the family to be of Catholic religion - more probably Church of Ireland.
There are records of a John Willis on Griffiths Val. & Freeholders List but we have no idea if they are the family we are looking for.
I know this is not much to go on but is there anyone who can suggest where I can go from here.
