I have an ancestor, Hugh Fitzpatrick, born Annagh in c1794. He had a daughter whom he named Catherine in 1832, but I am still chasing his wife's name. I wonder if your Catherine might be Hugh's little sister? What are the names of her children? Hugh's children were Cecilia, Henry, Elizabeth, John, Hugh, Catherine and Stephen in that order... any matches which might hint at maternal and paternal naming patterns?

Hi, I don't think this is the same Fitzpatrick as mine. I later found out that Catherine's mother was Rose Fitzpatrick and her father was Robert Clarke. She was born illegitimate, but they named her Catherine Fitzpatrick and Catherine Clarke.I have her birth cert somewhere in my files. Catherine was born in 1817 in Annagh, Red Hills, Cavan. She married Peter Mc Guire in 1838 in Drumlane, Cavan, which is west of Annagh. Her children were Mary, Anne, Elizabeth, Frances, Margaret, John, James and Susan and these were all born in Annagh townland, Co. Roscommon, about a mile from Leitrim Village. Peter Mc Guire moved his family from Red Hills, Cavan to Leitrim around 1842 and for Griffiths Valuation of Ireland, he is found with Catherine Fitz. in Annagh townland, Co Roscommon.

Best of luck with your research. It takes ages to get any info because most of our records were burned in the 1920's Black & Tan Troubles in Ireland and those that remain are very scanty. Hope this helps some little bit:-)
