Carlow (county)
Help, Does anyone have any information on the Watchorn Families of County Carlow. My daughter is married to Anthony Watchorn and his Mum and myself are trying to research the Family Tree of the Watchorns.
We know that Anthony's Grandfather was Thomas Watchorn, he married Eileen O'Farell 28/9/1927. they had five children.
Thomas's father was John Watchorn he married Margaret Ireton in Clonegal, in 1866. They had seven children.
John, born 6/4/1869
Frank,born 11/4/1869/70?
Julia, born 18/11/1870
Harriet, born 1872
Michael, born 1874 married a Kate
Patrick (PJ), born 20/9/1875 married Mary Duggan in 1897
Thomas born 1876?
We have done some research in Dublin and we have been to Derbyshire trying to link Anthonys ancestors to the Watchorn who went to Derbyshire in 1850's. They were John and Alicia Watchorn. They married in 1855 in Belper District.
This John Watchorn was born in 1831 in Carlow.
this is as far as we have got and have hit a few dead ends.
If anyone out there can give us any information on th Carlow Watchorn's we would be extremely grateful.

I noticed that Harriet was a daughter of a Watchhorn. I am trying to figure out my great grandmother's maiden name, her name is Harriet and was born either 1871 or 1872 in Ireland. I noticed that your Harriet date of birth is right near my Harriet. Maybe its the same Harriet?

My grandmother was born and raised in Johnswell Co Kilkenny. She was Elizabeth Hayes Griffith. In the 1911 census there is a Richard Watchorn living in the house next door to my ggrandparents. I am trying to remember if he was living with Lewis Griffith or Thomas Griffith, cannot find my notes. This Watchorn child is listed as their "grandson" he was born in Co Carlow. I have not found who his parents were yet. My grandmother's mom was Annie Hayes born and raised and married in Oldleighlin Co Carlow. Have either of the posters come across any Griffiths in their search relating to the Watchorns? I would love to find out who this child's parents were.
