My grandfather left for Greenock, Scotland in the late 1890's. My father, David was born there in 1902.
Hi Fionna, i have left a reply for you on the Carlow section re Turkington relations. I am from Greenock and may have some info for you. My mothers maiden name is Turkington. her fathers name was Edward Turkington. There is a Pierce Turkington in her family.

My G uncle was married to an Annie turkington born 1897 Co. Armagh. she had a sister Myrtle 1893 and a brother Ernest 1898. But, no further info on them except Annie and Myrtle were two of the orriginal doe girls that cared for troups during the war.
