New Ross-Allen/Kehoe
I am just starting research on my mothers (Irish) side of the family. The only info I have is from a conversation going back 10-15 years and the(very brief) notes I made shortly afterwards.
The family came from New Ross early 1900's.Grandparents-James Allen & Catherine(nee Kehoe).James had numerous siblings-2 names Seamus and Sean.Ihave several names on Catherines side-Mary Elisa,T(h)eresa,Anastasia,Tom,Edward.
James and Catherine moved to and lived in Birkenhead.Their children were Jimmy,John,George,Patrick,Joseph,Laurence,Margaret(my mother),Mary.
Mother remembered going back to New Ross(ferry from Liverpool)to visit relatives several times. One Grandfather on Allen side was apparently a farrier-one on grandmother(Kehoe)side was a cobbler.
Other info - a cousin apparently joined RAF and was killed in WW2,joining up apparently caused problems in family!!
An Uncle(not known which side of family)was said to be Sergeant Major in British Army-Regiment not known.
Not expecting too much but you never know-might ring a few bells!!

New Ross Allen,
If you had the details of the births
and place born it is possible to search both 1901 & 1911 Census returns.

Allens New Ross
Surprise!
That's my family you're talking about. There's still a lot of them in the town and I'm sure they'll be easy to contact. Most of them have the same names as your branch of the family. I live in Spain now but you can contact me for more info if you like.

Good Evening Pat
This is a surprise-I had given up on any contacts.Over Christmas I found some papers on the Allen family(research done by my late Uncle Larry Allen).Includes 11 family trees of various branches of Allen family going back to Iams(James?)Allen born 1710.You may find interesting. My e-mail is ***
Hope the weather is warmer with you than it is here(Lancashire)
Happy New Year

My grandmother was Catherine Kehoe. She married James Allen from New Ross in Salford 06/09/1902.Her father was John Kehoe who was a shoemaker of Maiden Lane,New Ross. Her mothers name was Margaret(nee Allen).Siblings George,John,Thomas,Edward,Patrick, James,Michael,Maryon,Mary,Mary Teresa,Anastasia.
According to my mother a cousin was in the RAF WW2 and was killed in action.Have found John Kehoe from New Ross who was killed in action in Holland 1941.

Kehoe - New Ross.
Hi Brian ,
I'm no relation whatsoever !! ...but my maiden name was Yates , so that's my "in ".
Seriously , I am helping to transcribe the war memorial for Clitheroe in Lancashire ...and we have an Edward Kehoe !!! You will find him on C.W.G.C. site ...Private 1576 , 1st /5th Battalion King's Own ( Royal Lancaster Regiment).
Died 5/5/1915.- grave is LVIII E. 4. Tyne Cot Cemetery .
I "believe " that he married Margaret Cahill , Old Fylde, 1906. ( freemd. rootsweb). Margaret died in Clitheroe 1918 ...and I think their children were :- John, Eileen (died young) , Mary and Caitlen. What happened to them I do not know .
That's it !!! ....hope it helps someone if not yourself . Regards
Shirley.

Kehoe / Yates
Hi Brian,
Don't think we connect . Mine were near , in Chapel en le Frith, Derbyshire , but don't think they moved from there 1700 to 1881.
Can you claim the Edward Kehoe I told you of ? It did say he was a native of New Ross and I would like parents names for my project if you think it IS him .
Thankyou . Shirley.
