Tipperary, N.R. (county), Nenagh (civilparish), Nenagh (plu)
Hi, I am looking for information on Stanley and Phelan families in County Tipperary. My Great-Great-Grandfather was Joseph Stanley, birthdate unknown, was the second son of a protestant family who owned/farmed in/near Nenagh. As his older brother was due to inherit the family farm, he joined the Royal Irish Constabulary circa 1867/68. He fell in love with Irish Catholic Mary Phelan, much to her family's displeasure, and they eventually moved to New Zealand cira 1875. I am not sure if they married in Ireland before departure, or once they arrived in New Zealand.
I unfortunately don't have the names of either Joseph or Mary's parents or siblings, but any help finding potential relations would be greatly appreciated!
