Johnstons
Hi
This might be a red herring but I have connections with the Johnston family, who I believe were originally from Tyrone, but later had connections with Monaghan. (There was a family story about a relative who settled in Monaghan and made good) I don't know if this fits in terms of dates:
James Johnston, farmer, was the father of William Johnston, who was also a farmer at Creevelough, Tyrone. William was born around 1819. Is he the brother of your Georgina? He married Mary Warwick in the 1840s and had four children, Samuel Johnston, Maria Johnston, John Johnston, and James Johnston. James and Maria lived together in Belfast before they died in 1923 and 1933 respectively.

Johnstons
I see a few posts for Johnstons and am wondering if these people look familiar to anyone. I have a James Johnston, who was a 'Sir', apparently, and was probably born around 1760, more or less, and had 4 sons- he and some sons were at the Battle of Ross in the 1798 rebellion. The oldest was John, who managed one of Lord Farnham's estates (wherever that would have been), and the youngest was Hugh, who emigrated to Ont., Canada, about 1829. Another brother may have been Robert- not sure, though.
Thanks!

Johnstons
I too am interested in the Johnstons of Crievelough/Creevelough. My great grandfather David Johnston b. about 1863 was the son of John Johnston who farmed the land round Brantry Church at Crievelough. I know John had at least one other son who went to Australia (name unknown). John took on the tenancy of his land in 1862. There was also a William Johnston renting land from at least 1857. He was ejected from his land in 1879, but allowed to stay on in his house. John and William may well have been related, but I can find no records.
I cannot find David's baptism, so am rather stuck. There are at least 2 sets of possible parents:
1. John (a land stewart) & Martha Johnston of Caledon, with children:
Alexander b.20/6/1854
Henrietta b.8/2/1859
James bp.18/6/1854
2. John Johnston and Mary Jane (nee Miller) of Reskateriff, with children:
Susan b. 9/4/1846
Thomas b. 5/2/1858
At Brantry school there was a John Johnston (son of a gamekeeper) started 1877 at age 14 1/4
and a Joseph Johnston (son of a farmer) started 1877 at age 19 (don't know if this was an error). Both lived in Crievelough.
I don't know if any of this rings a bell with anyone?
