Mayo (county)
Catherine Welch/Walsh was born in 1847 in Westport, Mayo we believe. Her father was Peter Welch and so was his father. It appears many of the family emigrated to Stockport, England around the time of the Famine. Catherine is lodging with in the home of what appears to be a relation, Michael Welch (away in the militia) in the 1871 census with two children, James and Thomas. Does this resonate with anyone?
