My paternal great grandfather according to information I have from other records was born in Ballaghadereen.
His name was Malachy Hanley born circa 1843. Other records I have traced so far suggest he was married twice. His first wife, Eliza, died in India in 1872. He remarried Margaret McEvoy of Tullamore Kings circa 1858 in India on 3rd January 1873. To my knowledge they had 10 children, one of them my paternal grandfather.
I would very much like to know how I can expand on this information. I have no idea where or when he married Eliza or where she was born. Particularly to find out if he had any other siblings and who his parents were.
I also noted from many of the records in India that his name had a variety of spellings, ie Mallock and the surname started out as Hanly on his early military papers.

Your message rang many bells! The Hanley family were very close to my family as my great grandmother, Margaret Connor, whom I remember very well, was the sister of Alma Connor who married Charles Hanley - the youngest brother of your Thomas! We are still in contact with the children of that marriage who, although not so computer literate, are fascinated by the family tree - in fact we spoke to Maureen Homes (nee Hanley) just this morning - before we discovered your message!!
