James Murphy 1896 Ballinalee Co.Longford
Hi,
I am trying to research my family tree. My grandfather was born in Ballinalee in 1896, his parents were called Peter and Kathleen. He had 2 sisters and 4 brothers and was the youngest.
Unfortunately he was involved in the troubles and was sentenced to death in Cork. Somehow he got himself to England where he changed his name to Jack McAvoy and never contacted his family again.
I am told all this information is correct but have struggled to find any information at all, so it may well be wrong. If anyone can help in my search I would be gratefull.
Regards,
Brendan

Jack McAvoy
Hello Brendan
My name is Bryan McAvoy, my father Jack (aka John) moved from Longford some time before 1920 and assumed the name McAvoy. He settled in Doncaster, Yorkshire where he married and had a family. (2 boys & a girl)
If this sound like a lead in your search please let me know and I will try to help.

Hi Bryan, think we are talking about the same guy. This is Brendan, Pat's eldest son. How you doing? Not sure how recent this post was as it only came up on my email this morning but says 2009 on the thread. I don't know if you have anymore info on Grandad Jack? I have been trying to put together dad's side of the family tree for years but we don't have any info on Jack and Dad knows little about his mum's side. If you have any info or want to catch up contact me at ***
