Roche Family of Limerick
My great grandmother was Margaret Roche b. 13 June 1873 Kildimo, Limerick. She had 2 known brothers-Michael Roche,b-20 May 1866, and Thomas Roche, b-9 April 1876. She also had 2 known sisters-Cecilia Roche, b-29 Jan 1882 and Delia Roche(can't find her info). Their father's name was Michael Roche. My living family here says that from what they know he worked for a British Colonel there in Limerick as a Valet. The mother's name was Mary O'Rourke.
Mary O'Rourke and Michael Roche married on 11 Feb 1861 in St. Michael's church-Limerick. They were all Roman Catholic and all the children were batized at St. Michael's church.
I would like to find out if there is a way to find information out on the family unit. Shouldn't St. Michael's have more information on the family since it looks like they were Church members.
Margaret and her siblings came over to the NY City area-separately. Margaret met and married a man orignally from Limerick as well-James Carroll-b. 1872 Limerick and he died in Dec 1917 from the Great flu epidemic. he and Margaret married in 1900 and had 5 daughters. I know Cecilia Roche met and married in NYC a Thomas Green from Ireland as well.
James Carroll worked as a Hansom Cab Driver for a Private Family around Central Park.
Note: I just found out from a family member that the British Colonel he worked for as a Valet was Colonel Maunsell.
Delia had a "pet name" Deleen. I cannot find her birth there in Limerick-even though I have found all the others. I questioned my relatives about another name she may have been born by and hopefully they can remember it.
Does anyone out there have any ideas on a relavant name she may have been born with?
