Hi Does anyone know the name of the old TB sanatoriums in Limerick or Cork.My aunt was sent from the Good Shepard orphanage in Limerick to a TB sanatorium where she died but ? where. MY eldery dad said it was in Doneral ( i dont know if the spelling is correct as there doesnot appear to such a place} in Cork as there was no sanatoriums in Limerick. It would have been in the 1930s/1940s. Many thanks Bernadette
I eem to remember that there was a TB Sanatorium in Foynes in the 1950's
The TB Sanatorium that you possible are looking for is called HEATHERSIDE in Doneraile,Co.Cork.As this is located near Cork /Limerick county border approx half way between Limerick City and Cork City.This institution is still in existance but now operates I think, as and Old folk geriatric unit.
