Queen's Co. (county)
I posted the following message some time ago in the Galway forum on a guess but I now believe that Joseph Larkin came from Queens County (now County Laois) and I'm hoping this additional information might bring some replies.
"Looking for info on my great grandfather, Joseph Larkin, born in Ireland and came to Ontario Canada in 1855 and married here. Parents were Patrick Larkin and Mary Fallon. I have no info on where in Ireland or of any siblings but would love to find some connections.

That sounds interesting... I wonder... ??? How do you think we might tell if there's any connection ? I have only my g-grandfather's parents' name from his marriage record and know nothing of any siblings. And the only other clue I have is from the baptism record of one of his children born here in Ontario, Canada, on which it listed his place of origin as "Hibernia, Queens". I know that Queen's county is now Laois. I'm afraid I don't have much more than that to go on.
It would be exciting, indeed, if you thought that your Larkin may have had some connection to mine.
