Hello to Kerry Forum,
My name is Elaine Billings, from Ilion, New York. Daniel would have been my great,great grandfather. He married a Catherine Riordan on May 24, 1866. I have been told by *** that he married into Riordan family farm, as the Primary Valuation of (c.1850)does not list Dineen's for the Parish of Ardfert. But, I have their son Patrick's birth certifacate, he is my great grandfather. It states he was baptised in Parish St. Brendan's, Ardfert, Co. Kerry, Ireland. The address where I think they lived looks like East Commons. Patrick was born in March 1867. Sponsor's were John Dineen and Mary Reardon/ Riordan. Minister John Murphy cc and Clergyman Patrick Barton pp. Patrick's siblings were Mary 1870,Michael 1872(appears this child died)next child was also name Michael 1874,Daniel 1877, and William 1880. The Dineen's are not listed as property holders in the Valuation, there are listing for Dineen births in 1840's for Ardfert Parish. Birth of Daniel Dineen (son of Denis and Mary Fitzgerald)October 1841 and another son Martis listed as having been born Oct 1843. He goes on to say this particular branch of Dineen family has totally disappeared from area by the time of 1901 census. I believe the whole family moved to America around 1881, my great grandfather would have been around 14 years old. Patrick became a us citizen on October 12, 1891 and was married at the time to a woman named Mary M. we do not know her maiden name, but I am waiting to receive her death certificate she died in Jan 1919, also the same year one of their son's died Patrick he was 21 years old. Then in 1931 another son Charles died he was 28 yrs old. Then my grandfather, William lived until 1966, he and my grandmother had eight living children. Now, after this long story my problem is not knowing anything about Daniel and Catherine, where they lived? Did they all leave for America at the same time? Were they even alive? Did the children come alone all at once or did some come and some not? I don't know where to go from here to get information on my family tree.
