I'm trying to find out more about John Roberts who I believe was born in Ireland, but don't know where, and his wife Rose Duncan, born in Kilkenny on 1 Nov 1807.
Rose married John Roberts in Dublin on 14 Jan 1829 in St Andrews RC Church. John was in the 75th Regiment of Foot, which took them to South Africa around 1834, and there they settled down.
Rose passed away on 6 Apr 1878 in Smithfield, Eastern Cape, South Africa, where she is buried in Smithfield Cemetery.
We don't know when or where John died, except that it was probably in South Africa.
Would love to know more about John's Irish origins, and ideally, parentage.
