I am seeking any information about my GEOGHAN ancestors, the only names I so far have is, Lawrence Geoghan, father of STEHEN GEOGHAN my gt grandfather, born abt 1841, where? I have been informed there is a possibility he may have come from Galway, but I really have no idea of where he originated. He was a master Tailor, same as his father. I don`t know when he arrived in England, have been unable to find him in any census befolre 1871, he married Louisa Paddison (sometimes recorded as PaTTison in error) in 1866, in Stafford registry office.
By 1881, Louisa her children were in the Stoke on Trent workhouse, where was Stephen? did he return to Ireland there is a possibility he may have done so, in 1885 Louisa remarried, stating she was a widow, but in 1901 Stephen appears on the census living in Liverpool, he died in 1919, still in Liverpool. Did Louisa think he had died whilst in Ireland?
If anyone knows of this family I would greatly appreciate any information, I would love to find any descendants of the Irish ancestors. They would still have been somewhere in Ireland in the late 1920s, my mother had then taken my elder brothers on a visit to relatives there,.
