I'd be grateful for information about my great-grandfather, Ambrose Moriarty (1838-1887, son of Daniel), born in Kerry, joined the Royal Irish Constabulary in 1858, then was transferred to Newry. Ambrose was a constable there until 1872 when he was injured on duty and pensioned.
Ambrose and Catherine Gilmer/Gilmour (likely b. in Newry about 1840, daughter of Patrick) were married at Newry in 1872. I don't know the cause of Ambroses early death or where he is buried.
In 1888, Catherine and her 5 children (including my grandmother) emigrated to Chicago.
