Donegal (county)
My Gr-grandfather, Hugh McGrory was born in Donegal in 1853 and his parents were James McGrory & Mary McGowan. He came to Glasgow in 1873 and married Jane McFadyen, whose father Patrick (born in Ardstraw, Tyrone) was already settled in Glasgow. Hugh & Jane had 7 children before Jane died in 1897. Hugh's son, also Hugh, was my grandfather. His brother William, also lived in Glasgow and never married. He spent a month in Ireland in both 1908 and 1909 so there was obviously still family in Donegal at that time.

My g-g-g-grandmother was Mary McCartney, Hugh's second wife. Do you have any info on the Donegal connection? He was a great father to her daughter Alice and she married Joseph Hugh Smith. Their daughter Helen married John M Weir. They are my grandparents.
