Hello, I am looking for any info.about the family of James Hargan who came to Australia in 1842 with his siblings Robert,Letitia,Mary,Matilda.His father,also James and his mother Elizabeth, nee Douglas or Derris lived in Bishop St, Derry.James died 2nd Dec.1866 in Killycor and was buried Church of Ireland Ardstraw,present at death was John Hargan. Elizabeth died 1st March 1874 in Fountain St Derry and was buried in Grange. I would love to know more about James and Elizabeth (GGG grandparents ) and hear from desc. in Ireland.
Not sure if we are looking for the same Hargan's. My gggg great grandfather is Michael Hargan born in Ireland between 1753-1755. He came to America around 1768 with 2 sisters. I am trying to find his family in Ireland. I have different info about him possibly being from Derry or Ulster or a place called Quigleys Point. Would love to see if maybe we are the same Hargans.

Did you ever find out any more information about James and Elizabeth Hargan?
I think I may be looking for the same family.
My GG Grandmother was Mary Hargan married to Robert Gamble.
They immigrated from Derry to Melbourne in 1848 on the Lady Peel.
There was also a Robert Hargen on the same ship.
Mary's parents are given on her death record (online) as James Hargan
and Elizabeth Dottas.
