Alexander McDowell from Coleraine?
Rev. Alexander McDowell of Colrain, Franklin County, Massachusetts is thought to perhaps have been from Coleraine, Derry, as were the early founders of the town by the same name. Alexander was born around 1722, and I would assume he married in Derry (wife's name unknown), and had his son Alexander there, born around 1740. Alexander, the elder, graduated from Harvard University in 1751, and was a minister in Colrain, Massachusetts. He married Eunice Shaw in 1754 in Massachusetts, which I am assuming is a second marriage for him. Alexander died in 1762 and is buried in Colrain, Mass. Hoping to find sources that would be helpful for that time period, or perhaps Alexander's name in a will of his father or father-in-law, also any information about the group that settled Colrain, Massachusetts would be helpful- from Irish records. There is another Rev. Alexander McDowell who was from Donegal and lived primarily in Augusta County, Virginia, dying in 1782, and should not be confused with the other Alexander.
