Hi, I'm trying to find information on the surname Dowey from my father's side of the family. From research I've done both Robert and Thomas were born in Portadown in the 1830/40s, their mother was called Elizabeth and Thomas came over and settled in Wigan, north-west England. His daughter, Mary Jane is my great-grandmother. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Interesting, you are the first I have seen to inquire on that name. My G grandfather was William McCabe 1870 Portadown. His father was James McCabe and mother was Sarah Ann Dowey. He he also had a Brother-in-law named Rev. Edward Dowey. I have found no info on the parents or brother-in Law. Should you get any leads, Flag me down.

I am looking for information on the Dowey Family in County Armough, Lurgan Ireland. My mother was born in Ireland July 28, 1944 to Rachel Dowey. Rachel's father was Charles Dowey and mother Ellen Wilson Dowey. She had several siblings, their names are: Annie, Sammy, Tommy, and Robert.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am coming to Ireland in the summer of 2019 and would like to find some family there to visit.
